Surrendering A Cat
We understand you’re here because you care about finding a safe and loving place for a cat—whether it’s your own or one you’ve found—and we’re glad you’ve reached out.
To get started, please fill out the Intake Request form.
Once submitted, we’ll carefully review your information and get back to you within 7-10 business days. Because our shelter typically operates at full capacity, we cannot accept all of the cats we receive intake requests for – and those we do accept may have to wait until space becomes available. We strongly encourage you to reach out to additional shelter and rescue organizations to find placement. You can find a list of these in our additional resources section.
Thank you so much for your kindness and for taking the time to find the best possible solution for this cat.
Surrendering A Cat FAQ
How We Prioritize Intake
To ensure we can provide quality care to every cat in our shelter, we prioritize new intakes based on factors including:
- Current shelter demographics, such as the number of kittens, adult, or senior cats we currently have.
- Special medical or behavioral needs of cats.
- Cats who require urgent preventative healthcare.
- We cannot accept kittens under 16 weeks of age, as we currently lack the resources required for their specialized care, including appropriate housing and onsite veterinary care.
- At this time, we do not have a foster program.
Increasing Your Cat’s Chances for Intake
Your cat is more likely to be placed on our waiting list if they:
- Are already spayed or neutered.
- Are up-to-date on veterinary care, including:
- Recent veterinary examinations.
- Current vaccinations.
- Annual bloodwork.
- Have had a recent (within one month) SNAP test for:
- FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus)
- FeLV (Feline Leukemia Virus)
We don’t expect every cat to be in perfect health, but we do require full disclosure of any known medical conditions.
