New name, same mission.
Welcome to The Cat Shelter—formerly Animal House Cat Rescue and Adoption Center. We’re the same team, with the same commitment, doing the same life-changing work….just with a name that’s easier to find so more cats can get the help they deserve. We’re excited for this new chapter and hope you will be too!

They survived the streets. With you, they can survive FIP.
Born outside, Chrome, Tamale, Batman, and Sunflower struggled just to stay alive—dodging cars, scavenging for food, and facing constant danger. Sunflower walked up to our door desperate for help. Chrome was found in a box by a dumpster. Tabasco was born in a window well, and Batman wandered alone searching for a friend.
They finally made it to safety—but then came another blow: FIP (feline infectious peritonitis), a disease that is always fatal without immediate treatment. The suffering is devastating. One by one they stopped eating. Sunflower and Batman grew so weak they could barely lift their heads. Chrome and Tabasco’s bellies swelled, hard and distended with fluid.
With treatment, they’re improving—but there’s a long, costly road ahead. Their only chance is months of medication and monitoring, costing up to $1,500 per cat—nearly $6,000 total. These four young lives deserve the chance to grow, play, and one day know the love of a family.
Please, donate today to help them survive this cruel disease and finally get the future they are fighting so hard for.
Welcome to The Cat Shelter: Where Cats Come First
At The Cat Shelter, cats are at the heart of everything we do. From playful kittens to laidback seniors, we are dedicated to meeting their unique needs—whether it’s behavioral care, a routine checkup or addressing complex medical issues.
Our shelter isn’t fancy, but it is built with cats in mind, offering cozy beds, soft blankets, fun toys, nutritious food, and – most importantly – the affection of people who adore them.
But what truly sets us apart is how deeply we get to know each cat. We take the time to learn their quirks, preferences, and personalities, ensuring we make meaningful matches between our cats and their new families.
Come visit The Cat Shelter today and see the difference a cat-first shelter makes.
