They survived the streets. With you, they can survive FIP.

Born outside, Chrome, Tamale, Batman, and Sunflower struggled just to stay alive—dodging cars, scavenging for food, and facing constant danger. Sunflower walked up to our door desperate for help. Chrome was found in a box by a dumpster. Tabasco was born in a window well, and Batman wandered alone searching for a friend.

They finally made it to safety—but then came another blow: FIP (feline infectious peritonitis), a disease that is always fatal without immediate treatment. The suffering is devastating. One by one they stopped eating. Sunflower and Batman grew so weak they could barely lift their heads. Chrome and Tabasco’s bellies swelled, hard and distended with fluid.

With treatment, they’re improving—but there’s a long, costly road ahead. Their only chance is months of medication and monitoring, costing up to $1,500 per cat—nearly $6,000 total. These four young lives deserve the chance to grow, play, and one day know the love of a family.

 Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.  We visited Animal House Cat Rescue to introduce ourselves to a bonded pair of 4-year old sibling cats. We fell in love with them and learned that their other two siblings had recently been surrendered. We saw them, also, and decided to take all four and we are extremely happy that we did. All four are wonderful cats, very friendly and they adapted to our house in a short time. The staff at AHCR are terrific, friendly and dedicated to the well-being of the cats in their care. Several months after the unexpected and tragic loss of our first family cat, we visited many rescues in St. Louis and the surrounding suburbs, searching for the right cat for our family.  We went into the process with very tender hearts, and wanted to take our time finding the right organization and cat. As soon as I walked into Animal House Cat Rescue, I knew this was the place where we would find our new family member—if not that day, then eventually.

The adoption coordinator greeted me at the door, explained the visit guidelines, and walked with me through the different areas. She knew the cats so well that she was able to direct me toward ones that might be a good fit. After I shared just a little context about our needs, she immediately took me to a little female cat named Amber Glen, whom she thought would be a great match. As soon as I opened the enclosure and made contact, I knew she was our cat. I continued meeting other cats just to be sure, but Kate had directed us perfectly. I even came back the next day, just to be sure I hadn't jumped to conclusions too quickly.

Thanks to Kate’s help, we had most definitely found our next family member. When I brought my kids to meet her, the volunteers were very accommodating and didn't seem frustrated by the sounds of children. Since we were in the middle of moving, we couldn't take her home that day, but we returned the following week to pick her up. They provided us with vet records, food, and her little stuffed toy (at the insistence of my children, who were certain she needed her favorite stuffed animal to sleep with at night).

Now that she's home, she is adjusting well, and we are filled with deep gratitude. She was cared for so well, had appropriate space while at the rescue, and was clearly well known and loved by the employees and volunteers. I encourage anyone looking to adopt a cat to seriously consider Animal House Cat Rescue and Adoption Center!

They know their cats and kittens well, and they do a great job with helping find you find a good fit for your family. They also do a great job of protecting the cats from spreading possible illnesses, and they make sure visitors follow proper protocol. We loved them so much that we are planning to volunteer.
